Artist Residency at Manchester Museum

Manchester Museum will be hosting a Artist Residency in the New Year who has experienced homelessness.  Through their own creative practice (discipline not yet confirmed) they will be free to interpret, communicate and present, using our galleries and collections as inspiration, and their own experience of homelessness will feature in the work they produce.

Karen Brackenridge will be acting as a chaperone and support for the artist for the duration of the residency. In preparation for this, Karen was invited to attend and join in the painting of a Mural (#doddleonduciestreet) including a singing and acting workshop with people who have experience of or are currently homeless.

She also attended the International Arts and Homeless Summit via With One Voice and Streetwise Opera.  Attending these events allowed Karen to meet and engage with people, who have been in the most despairing circumstances and are now working hard at learning how to live well again.
